Our Mission

Our mission at Sisters in Pink Inc. is to be a voice for the destitute girls in Asia. Our express desire is to improve the lives of girls who have been abused, neglected, and forgotten. By partnering with reputable non-profit organizations in Asia, we ensure our Western resources are placed in the hands of those who will provide not only shelter, food, and clothing, but also an emotionally healthy environment and high-quality education.

Rescue

verb: to free from confinement, danger, or evil : SAVE, DELIVER

It’s as if they have never been truly loved. When they come to our home for the first time, there is a sadness and emptiness that you can see in their eyes. Is it from the empty stomach, or the empty heart? Perhaps, it’s a bit of both. Our home has focused on taking girls who have no mothers, either due to death, or abandonment.

We found years ago, while doing the research, that there was a cyclical pattern in the villages, that left many girls without a family: The dad was an alcoholic, who had an extra-marital affair, leaving the mom to commit suicide, leaving behind small children, with no one to take care. In many villages, no one cares for the girl child, as they are still considered a burden to society.

Restore

verb: to bring back to or put back into a former or original state: RENEW

Once the girls are placed in our home, we ensure that their daily needs are met. From breakfast to bedtime, their routine is supervised by caring and nurturing Aunties who have dedicated their life to taking care of our girls. We send them to a nearby English medium school, where they attend until 10th grade. After 10th, the girls go to pre-university for 11th & 12th. Here are just a few RESTORATION stories!

SADHANA- an inspiring 8-year-old who joined our home two years ago. Despite not knowing a word of English at the time, she has diligently embraced the language and now speaks and writes fluently. Such is her remarkable progress that she has been double-promoted at school this year! It's no surprise that Sadhana aspires to be a teacher when she grows up. Her determination and dedication serve as an inspiration to us all.

AADYA - at just 13 years old, she's already a natural-born leader. Whether it's acing her exams or guiding her friends, Aadya's always at the forefront. When she's not busy inspiring others, she loves cruising around the neighborhood on her bicycle. But her big dream? To become a talented artist who designs stunning gowns. With her creativity and determination, there's no doubt Aadya's destined for greatness!

DIVYA - 16, has been a part of our home since she was 5. She's currently excelling in 9th grade and has a knack for singing with her angelic voice. When she's not at school, you can hear her filling the house with beautiful melodies. Her big goal in life is to become a social worker and make a difference by helping those in need.

NIDHI- an 18-year-old who adores playing the piano, reading, and looking after our family's dog. She's paving the way as the first girl in our household to pursue a university education! When she's not hitting the books, you'll often catch her honing her piano skills, mentoring her younger siblings, and sharing plenty of laughs. Nidhi's dream is to become a math teacher and, down the road, a high school principal.

Release

verb: the act or an instance of liberating or freeing (as from restraint) LIBERATE

This year we had the immense pleasure of sending out five of our oldest girls from the home. Having been here nearly their entire lives, it was a bittersweet moment. We are happy to report that they are all doing well. Two have taken over a family business in the performing arts. One is teaching preschool. Two are still in college, pursuing their dreams.

In order to get them ready for adulthood, our home created the GAP (Growing into Adult Program). Living in the top apartment of our new home, we trained them to ride scooters, to take the city bus, go to the bank, cook, and create a budget! We look forward to the days when they stop by the home for family birthday parties and holiday functions!
